STUDENT CHECK LIST: TEST FOR THESIS STATEMENT
IS THE THESIS STATEMENT WORTHWHILE?
- Is it significant?
- Does it require supporting statements?
- Does it stimulate or encourage new insights?
- Does it establish a clear relationship between the specific facts or the ideas to be discussed?
- Is it interesting?
IS THE THESIS STATEMENT WORKABLE?
- Is it specific and limited, rather than broad and general?
- Is it a clear statement?
- Does it establish who, what, where, why?
- Does it lend itself it self to logical development?
- Are the necessary resources for developing it available?
IS THE THESES STATEMENT APPROPRIATE?
- Is it possible for me to develop the information?
- Is it a subject that can be treated objectively?
- Is the relation between it and content evident?
