Mercy As a Way of Life
When young girls enter the Academy, they begin a journey which molds and shapes their intellect, psyche, values, and faith. They enter the Academy as young fourteen year olds and emerge as empowered young women capable of making positive decisions. Their parents entrust the Academy with the task of helping their daughters become all they can be. The administration, faculty, and staff joyfully nurture these young ladies. In four short years they become part of the "Timeless Circle of Mercy, which roots us in faith, lifts us in hope, and holds us in God's loving care."

At the Academy students are challenged to be open to new possibilities. Years ago, a beloved teacher and Campus Minister challenged Mercy students with the statement:
"Don't just go through Mercy, Let Mercy go through you." From freshman to senior year students are asked:
  • To reflect on and accept the components of Mercy
  • to wrap themselves in compassion aware of God's love and Mercy in their lives
  • to share their gifts with others
  • to be energized with concern
  • to live and love in service
They are reminded if Mercy is to be A Way of Life, they must live Mercy.

To live Mercy they must:
  • be compassionate
  • be gently present, listening, standing by, encouraging, opening new doors
  • be attentive to issues affecting the minds, hearts, and souls of people with whom they walk
  • walk with the poor on paths of joy, pain, frustration, and sorrow
  • speak out on behalf of the down-troddenwhile enabling them to speak for themselves
  • work and hope for changes that reflect a better life and world
  • be a strong woman aware of herself and willing to make a difference
  • be open to the challenge of God's unconditional LOVE!
